Local
We have particularly
enjoyed:
- Walking to Ambleside
over the fells (about 2 miles of relatively easy walking) and getting
a taxi back if necessary
(about £8.50
for a car-load)
- Walking to the
superb Britannia Inn at Elterwater on an easy path past the picturesque
lake
- Walking to Loughrigg
Tarn (which can be seen just minutes away) and if desired on to
Loughrigg Fell and Loughrigg Terrace with its stunning views and
down to the bustling village of Grasmere with its shops, tea rooms
and pubs, etc.
- The pub quiz (and
the shoulders of lamb) at Wainwrights Inn at Chapel Stile a couple
of miles away
- Slowly cruising
around Coniston Water on a little motor boat
- Climbing Scafell
Pikes from the end of Langdale, preferably on a pleasant day and
reaching the highest point in England! (Langdale Pikes, Coniston
Old Man and Helvellyn are all only a stone’s throw away)
