Held on the second Saturday of every month, the Orton Farmers’ Market boasts over 30 stalls, offering a variety of award-winning produce. Described as one of Westmorland’s loveliest villages, Orton is a picturesque fell-farming village in the Lune Valley. This thriving country market offers a wealth of sights and smells to the visitor and is a must for any foodie.

Held in the recently renovated Market Place, surrounded by beautiful listed buildings, the Cockermouth Farmers’ Market offers the very best in local foods and crafts. The town has held a market since the 13th century and a visit to this ancient marekt town is a quintessential Lake District experience.

Dating back to 1189, Kendal’s market is the oldest known in Cumbria. The marketplace is situated beside the waters of the River Kent, and the produce on offer ranges from fresh breads to specialty oils.

Milnthorpe Farmers’ Market – 11th May, 8th June etc. (2nd Friday of each month), 9:30am – 2:30am

Another ancient market town, Milnthorpe has, for the past five years, offered visitors the opportunity to discover the best in produce from the area, including meat, eggs, breads and dairy products. There is also usually a stall selling top-quality rare-breed meats.

This popular country market offers a large selection of the finest local foods, including the famous Cartmel Village Shop Sticky Toffee Pudding (not to missed!), fish, game and local cheeses.
