Many of our visitors come back to Colwith time & time again as they love the convenience of accessing several wonderful scenic walks straight from the front door.
Colwith is ideally positioned for gentle strolls (like the circuit round Loughrigg Tarn or the level walk by the river Brathay from Skelwith Bridge to Elterwater & back). However if you wish to do more lengthly walks there is easy access to Loughrigg Terrace (amazing view over Rydal Water & Grasmere), walks over Loughrigg Fell to Ambleside and many walks in the Langdale area….even Langdale Pikes….to mention but a few.
If you would like to view more walks in the area we suggest you visit where2walk.co.uk for ideas.
There are some lovely refreshment points at local cafes and pubs when walking in the area. For example Chesters by the River is very close by and an obvious choice when walking along the river Brathay; The Britannia Inn at Elterwater serves great food & real ales; Eltermere Inn serves delicious afternoon teas with the best scones imaginable …these can be enjoyed in their beautiful gardens overlooking a tarn (they do good lunches & dinners too!). There are many more….watch out for a future blog for ‘foodies’.
